HENDERSON, NV, October 07, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Elayne B. LaPorta with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. LaPorta celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. La Porta was a talented painter, printmaker, and sculptor who devoted her career to the world of art. Spending her days in her home studio in Henderson, Nevada, her work was inspired by themes from the Bible. Rich in color and vivid detail, she often traveled to far off places to research what she would later portray through her artwork. Her portfolio included an array of subjects, such as Noah's Ark and Jesus' first miracle, with such elements as period-appropriate weapons and clothing.

Over the years, Ms. La Porta's artistic pieces have been displayed at various galleries, trade shows, institutions and buildings of theological significance. She has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the U.S. at the Art Exhibit of Bolen Gallery in Santa Monica, California, the Biblical Arts Center, East Gallery, in Dallas, the West Bend Gallery of Fine Arts in West Bend, Wisconsin, and many other locations. Her work has also been featured in a multitude of permanent collections, including at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco, Adrian Dominican Sisters in Adrian, Michigan, the National Museum of Catholic Art and History in New York City, the Historical Society of Washington, D.C., Villanova University in Villanova, Pennsylvania, Rosarian Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida, Regina Dominican High School in Wilmette, llinois and Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan. She also notably established her own gallery in 2008, Elayne La Porta Fine Arts, in Henderson, to highlight her work. Ms. La Porta was the subject of several reviews and articles throughout the country, earning features in such publications as the Henderson Home News, the Las Vegas Review-Journal and the Santa Monica Outlook.

Known for her detailed folk paintings and limited edition prints, Elayne LaPorta's palette is filled with colors inspired by dramatic themes from the Bible. LaPorta has found her niche translating spiritual scenes onto oils and prints. Using a unique American folk concept she calls, "Naïveté," LaPorta developed a unique relationship to biblical art and artistic expression.

A student of archeology and a scholar of historical commentary, LaPorta blended her rich palette with strong details to create a deep spiritual connection to the subjects she paints. Prior to beginning any project, LaPorta engaged in extensive research on her subject, often traveling to study the terrain and history that supports her investigation. The result is a visual narrative that depicts the vegetation, clothing, weapons, and legends indigenous to particular biblical themes.

Working in her sun-filled studio in Henderson, Nevada, LaPorta painted daily and continued her research long into the night. Her dedication to her mission was truly a labor of love that is evident in every aspect of her creations.

Defined by a deep understanding of how her topics move and engage her audience, LaPorta's works have been collected privately and are widely exhibited in galleries, biblical centers, trade shows, and academic institutions.

Her subjects include the Parting of the Red Sea, the Arrival of the Israelites! the Landing of Noah's Ark After the Flood, Jesus' First Miracle, and Ruth Amid the Alien Com, as well as many other important biblical and historical religious events.

During the late 1960s, Ms. La Porta studied under the tutelage of Cliff Segerblom and Arnold Hitchcock, as well as under Steve Lesnick at the Lesnick School of Art. She also attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, Italy. To support her professional endeavors, Ms. La Porta was a respected member of the Park County Museum, the Catholic Fine Arts Society, the Catholic Artists of the 90s, the Midwest Association of Religious Talent Inc., Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA), Wenham, Massachusetts, National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C., and the International Registry of Religious Women Artists.

As a reflection of her accomplishments, Ms. La Porta received an Honorable Mention Award at the Sacred Arts exhibition, Billy Graham Center Museum, in Wheaton, Illinois, in 1993. She was also approved as a Laureate by the Board of the Saint Bernadette Institute of the Sacred Heart in 2005, where she received a Mother Teresa Statuette commemorating her work. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. La Porta has been cited in over a dozen editions of Who's Who in American Art.

"I always felt that if I could capture religious stories in a simplified naïveté style that my art, my paintings would speak to people. My art advisor, Mr. Calvin Goodman, encouraged me. He said, 'Paint large, you have a large subject.' My small contribution.

Unfortunately, Ms. La Porta has since passed away. She is survived by her daughter, Valerie, who now oversees her gallery and holds the copyrights to all her work. Elayne's daughter is with the Henderson Historical Society where Elayne and Lou, her husband, resided in Henderson, Nevada since 1942. Lou and his daughter Valerie are founders of the Henderson Historical Society. The nonprofit organization is devoted to sharing and preserving Henderson, Nevada's heritage. Ms. LaPorta's daughter, Valerie LaPorta, is currently the board secretary of the Society.
