After working for Allied Chemical Corporation in Houston as a sales coordinator and secretary for the Specialty Chemicals Division, Ms. Gould worked at Alternate Learning Center for Lucas County Schools in Toledo, Ohio, in the mid-1980s. From there, she gained valuable professional expertise as an office administrator for the Curtis Mathes Corporation, where she served until all her children went on to college. Upon relocating to Florida in pursuit of retirement, she became a municipal clerk for the Village of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, where she served from 1989 until her retirement in 2006.
In her work with the village, Ms. Gould took care of all village records, clerked for council meetings, and worked with attorneys on various matters that came before the council. Over the years, she furthered her expertise by becoming a certified municipal clerk through the Florida Association of City Clerks. Driven to stay abreast of changes in the field, she aligned herself with several organizations, including the Palm Beach County Municipal Clerks Association and the Florida Association of City Clerks.
Outside of her work, Ms. Gould served as treasurer and vice president of the Palm Beach County Municipal Clerks Association. Among her achievements, she is most proud of being suggested by the Mayor of the Village of Royal Palm Beach to serve as interim manager until a new manager could be hired. This was a compliment and an acknowledgement of their trust in her capabilities. Looking ahead, Ms. Gould aims to reflect on her career and continue enjoying her retirement.
