While stationed in Morocco with the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. White's unit established a vision clinic on behalf of the struggling natives, which inspired him to continue the work of finding a solution to the lack of ocular care in developing nations. Supported by a Bachelor of Arts in general science from the U.S. Naval Academy and a Master of Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University, he presently serves as the Executive Director of Global Vision 2020. Likewise, Mr. White served as the U.S. European Command director of humanitarian assistance projects for Africa and Eastern Europe.
In his current capacity, Mr. White provides prescription eyeglasses to residents of remote areas. Through his work, he is most proud to have invented the USee Vision Kit and, since he established Global Vision 2020, he has brought more than 120,000 pairs of low-cost glasses to those in need. In recognition of his accomplishments, Mr. White was presented with the World Changing Award, the National Geographic Chasing Genius Award, the We Work Creator Award, the International Design Excellence Award and, most recently, the 2020 U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Patents for Humanity Award.
Mr. White has attributed his standout success to hard work, creative thinking and the support of his family. He maintains his professional affiliation with the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness. In the coming years, Mr. White aspires to expand the scope of his business and deliver low cost glasses to more areas of the world.
