Her journal articles include "Transforming Lives with Differentiated Literacy Instruction," which was featured in the Journal of Education and Human Development, "Innovative Collaboration with Digital Stories: Making a Difference through Invitational Education," and "Personalized Multimodal Instruction: Positively Impacting Lives through Invitational Education."
An expert in her field, Dr. Coffey holds a Doctorate in teacher education from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with an emphasis on language, literacy, and ESL education, a Master of Science in child and family studies and curriculum and instruction, and a Bachelor of Science in home economics education with an emphasis on English education, elementary education, and occupational child care through Carson-Newman University. Driven to stay abreast of changes in the field, she aligns herself with the Association of Literacy Educators and Researchers, the American Psychological Association, the International Literacy Association, the Literacy Research Association, and the Georgia Reading Association, just to name a few.
In light of her professional excellence, Dr. Coffey has been recognized many times, earning inclusion into the Cambridge Who's Who Registry of Executives and Professionals, Madison Who's Who Registry of Executives and Professionals, Kappa Omicron Nu, Phi Kappa Phi, and Kappa Delta Pi. In 2018, the Association of Educators and Researchers presented her with the A. B. Herr Award for Outstanding Literacy Instruction. Additionally, she was listed in the National Registry of Professional Women and the Princeton Global Network Special Edition Registry, received a Member of the Year Award through the Madison Who's Who Registry of Executives and Professionals, and was named the 2010 Bagwell College of Education's Distinguished Faculty Member for Undergraduate Service.
