After earning a bachelor's degree in history political science from The City College of New York in 1976, Mr. Frisch obtained a Juris Doctor in securities and corporate law from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University in 1980. Moreover, he has also completed coursework in finance from Rutgers University - Newark in 1977. Additionally, Mr. Frisch became a licensed attorney in 1981 and was admitted to practice law before the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York in 1981, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in 1984, the Supreme Court of the United States in 1986 and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in 1987.
Mr. Frisch began his career as a law clerk for Shearson Hayden Stone from 1977 to 1980 before subsequently becoming appointed as the first vice president, associate general counsel and senior counsel at Shearson Lehman Brothers from 1980 to 1994. He later worked as the first vice president, senior litigator associate general counsel, at Smith Barney Shearson from 1993 to 1994. i''n 1994, Mr. Frisch was recruited as the assistant general counsel at Gruntal & Co. LLC until 1998.
Mr. Frisch excelled as the senior vice president and compliance manager for Datek Online Holdings Inc. and T.D. Ameritrade from 1999 to 2003, at which poont he became senior counsel and a consultant at Merrill Lynch. He subsequently served of counsel for Alonso, Andalkar, Toro, Facher & MacAvoy P.C. from 2008 to 2010 and Lubiner & Schmidt LLC, from 2010 to 2015. In 2015, Mr Frisch further flourished as an attorney and paralegal for Greenberg Traurig LLP from 2015 to 2018 before becoming a contract attorney for Bressler, Amery & Ross P.C. in 2018.
Mr. Frisch has also found success as the principal of Harry D. Frisch Esq. P.C. since 2018. In addition, he maintains his membership with the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Council, the New York County Lawyers Association, the Association of the Bar for the City of New York and the New York State Bar Association. A former member of the Securities Lobbying Group, Mr. Frisch was additionally active as an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
Mr. Frisch attributes his success to being in the right place at the right time, but he also considers his most notable achievement to have been his assistance in the drafting and composition of the appellate briefs that progressed to the Supreme Court of the United States. These documents mandated arbitration, starting in June 1987 with Shearson/American Express Inc. v. McMahon and Rodriguez de Quijas et al. v. Shearson/American Express in 1989. These cases changed not just financial services, but corporate America in allowing the arbitration of conventional disputes with public clients. In the coming years, Mr. Frisch intends to relax and enjoy life as he is entering a period of semi-retirement.
