ONEIDA, WI, October 21, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tehassi tasi Hill has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. Mr. Hill operated a successful painting business for six years after graduating Oneida Nation High School. Following this period, he began attending general council tribal meetings on his reservation and became heavily involved in local politics. At age 23, he ran for a position as a local council member of the business committee and lost by nine votes. Convinced that he needed to perform more on behalf of the community, Mr. Hill was duly elected to the office three years later.
After serving for a term, Mr. Hill ran to become the chairperson of the Oneida nation. Mr. Hill again failed to get elected. During this period, taking the time to study business administration at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, until he was elected in 2014 as a Councilman on the Oneida Business Committee. After serving the 3-year term, he again chose to run for the Chairman position, and is currently serving in his second consecutive term. In this position, he oversees the main governing body of the Oneida nation, which includes all enrolled members of 18 years and over. Presently, in addition to the responsibilities inherent in his position, Mr. Hill previously worked as a senior maintenance technician for the Oneida nation and as a coordinator for the American Indian Business Network. In government, he has remained committed to the preservation of the environment, as well as the Oneida language, culture and traditions.
As a dedicated professional, Mr. Hill serves on the Natural Resources Damage Trustee Council and is a designee to the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Regional Tribal Operating Committee. Additionally, he is affiliated with the Great Lakes Inner Tribal Council, the National Congress of American Indians and the National Indian Gaming Association. Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Hill has been recognized for his ongoing work and research on environmental stewardship.
