ORO VALLEY, AZ, October 26, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joyce A. Jones-Ivey has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. After receiving an Associate of Art in nursing from Pasadena City College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University, Ms. Ivey began a career in nursing in order to address the lack of adequate healthcare in her area. As a qualified professional, she earned certification as an obstetrics and gynecological (OBGYN) nurse practitioner, a Lamaze instructor and as a breast-feeding consultant. Ms. Ivey initially served as a nurse practitioner for Kaiser Permanente, and subsequently worked at King Drew Medical Center for nearly 10 years.
Ms. Ivey also worked as an adult nurse practitioner at the Olive View-UCLA Medical Center, a nurse manager of the OBGYN unit at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital and a quality performance specialist for Houston Methodist. During a later stage of her career, she stood for election for town council, having noticed that the previous council was unresponsive to the needs of its constituents. Ms. Ivey served as a council member of the Town of Oro Valley, where she learned much about the importance of local government.
Throughout her career, Ms. Ivey has been most proud of the accomplishments she made in the field of nursing. As a dedicated member of her community, she has been active with the Amphitheater School District, the local chapter of Jack and Jill, Women in Action, Planned Parenthood and Amnesty International. She has attributed her professional success to her drive. In addition, her parents instilled within her a strong work ethic from an early age. Looking toward the future, Ms. Ivey plans to run for another term on the city council.
