Michele L. Conderino Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Homeless Services

    NORWALK, CT, October 28, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michele L. Conderino has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Ms. Conderino initially obtained a Bachelor of Science in social work in 2001 from Western Connecticut State University in Danbury. She furthered her education with a Master in Social Work with an emphasis on international social work, with honors, from the University of Connecticut in 2013. Beginning her career in mental health awareness advocacy, Ms. Conderino later focused on assisting the homeless and helping them find shelter.

Ms. Conderino gained valuable experience as a housing coordinator with Mental Health Connecticut Inc. in Danbury from 2004 to 2005, with which she assisted clients in diverse cities with obtaining affordable and safe housing and worked with landlords to develop housing opportunities and resolve client-related disputes. She has served with Catholic Charities of Fairfield County Inc., accepting a position in 2006 as the director of homeless services, a capacity in which she spearheads city and state-wide initiatives to address the needs of the homeless by providing access to care, housing and employment services. Ms. Conderino additionally operates in an advocacy role to support client and family needs and supervises projects by assisting transitions from homelessness programs for Fairfield County, encompassing teams in Danbury, Norwalk and Stamford.

In addition, Ms. Conderino created and continually develops the Friends of Morning Glory Advisory Board, which increases community awareness and financial contributions to the morning soup kitchen. Likewise, she trains, supervises and coordinates over 200 staff members, interns and volunteers while utilizing analytics to enhance program delivery and community improvement. Since 2015, Ms. Conderino made an impact as the regional director for Catholic Charities, for which she utilized analytics to develop programs, built collaborative working partnerships with government officials as well as an operational infrastructure with the talent and resources needed to achieve organizational goals, and developed two housing programs in the Danbury area.

Since June 2019, Michele Conderino, MSW, has served as Executive Director at Open Doors, a Norwalk-based provider of shelter and supportive housing to people experiencing homelessness. In just several months, Ms. Conderino helped lead Open Doors to the greater adoption of innovative and evidence-based practices to end homelessness. She provides regional leadership on the Fairfield County Coordinated Access Network, Opening Doors Fairfield County (the HUD Continuum of Care planning body), and the board of the Housing Collective and the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she has led the state in highlighting the heroism of front-line staff who are facing risks and challenges as they continue to deliver services to people in shelters and hotels. In 2021, she led Open Doors in developing the Financial Opportunity Center, providing those at risk of homelessness with access to income benefits, employment placement, and financial coaching to provide housing and financial security to area residents.

Ms. Conderino has contributed as an adjunct professor for a semester in 2013 with Western Connecticut State University. She is also active as a board member of the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness and Supportive Housing Works. In 2020, Ms. Conderino was presented with a Homeless Impact Award by Moffly Media, a noted regional publisher in Fairfield County.

Ms. Conderino attributes her success to her commitment to learning, listening, and understanding. She firmly believes that witnessing people succeed has been the greatest achievement in her life. In coming years, Ms. Conderino is hoping to influence not only state but national perceptions regarding homeless services.
