Alex Perlov Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Mr. Perlov has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in music performance and composition

NEW ROCHELLE, NY, October 28, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Alex Perlov with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Perlov celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Perlov celebrates a storied career as a contributor to the arts. For over 60 years, he has enriched the lives of others as a composer, pianist, organist, music educator and musicologist. In this capacity, he has excelled as the music director of Sacred Heart Church in Hartsdale, New York from 1997 to 2017. Likewise, between 1992 and 1996, he contributed his skills as an organist to Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Portchester, New York. Additionally, he found success as the general manager of New Rochelle Opera, a music coordinator of the Girls & Boys Club of New Rochelle, the music director, organist and cantor of the Church of the Nativity in the Bronx, New York, and music director of the Church of the Assumption in Tuckahoe, New York.

Mr. Perlov attended the graduate division of The Juilliard School in 1962. Previously, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University in 1954. While active as a student at Duke, he contributed to senior productions at the Hoof'n Horn Club, and was elected President of the Duke Players Theatre Organization. Mr. Perlov continued his studies at the Tanglewood Music Center, participating in Aaron Copland's Composer's Workshop. He was honored to study under the guidance of Modest Altschuler and Leonard Bernstein.
As a child, Alex greatly enjoyed attending concert performances with his mother, who was a pianist in her own right. He found consistent inspiration in the renowned artists he was privileged to hear at live shows. Alex began studying piano at the age of seven, and at twelve years, began to compose. Although Mr. Perlov is trained in several instruments, piano remains his first love.

Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Perlov was also active as an actor. From the age of 13, he has appeared in several professional productions. Notably, he performed Shakespeare under Philip Burton of the BBC Radio. Though Mr. Perlov enjoyed working as an actor, director and producer in professional theatre, playing music has always endured as his priority and he made it his purpose to heal others through the art of music.

Mr. Perlov is most proud to have received accolades for a number of his compositions, acclaim for his contributions to jazz underscoring, and an official Proclamation for his "Fanfare" for the opening of the New Rochelle Library in 1979, which he conducted with nine trumpets, six trombones, three tubas, and four percussion in procession, as well as the Foreign Entrant Award at the First international Music Festival in Cannes, France, in 1971. Mr. Perlov is a member of Broadcast Music Inc., the Music Educators League of Westchester, the New York Archdiocesan Church Musicians, the Westchester Musicians Guild and the American Guild of Organists. Mr. Perlov has been listed with Marquis Who's Who since 1973, and was also a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018.
