Del Yazzie has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Mr. Yazzie is a noted epidemiologist dedicated to public health in Indian country



    WINDOW ROCK, AZ, October 29, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Del Yazzie has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After completing a bachelor's degree in human biology from Johns Hopkins University, Mr. Yazzie went on to study at the university's Bloomberg School of Public Health, from which he received a master's degree in public health. Throughout the span of his education, Mr. Yazzie credits his success to family and mentors who took him under their wing and provided him with guidance in the field of public health.

Mr. Yazzie began his career as a public health researcher and advocate. He has worked on a range of applied health research projects focused on health disparities in international settings and among indigenous and tribal communities. He currently works as an epidemiologist at the Navajo Epidemiology Center. He has also filled several key leadership roles on the Navajo Nation, including serving as Director of the Navajo Epidemiology Center, member of the Navajo Nation Human Research Review Board, technical advisor to the Center for Disease Control's Tribal Advisory Committee, co-lead of the Navajo Nation COVID-119 Epidemiology Team and lead of other Navajo public health projects. He is proficient in disease surveillance, applied health research and working with culturally diverse communities and bilingual in Navajo and English. He is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and keenly aware of the significant health disparities that exist among the Navajo people and other American Indians and Alaska Natives. He is a member of the American Public Health Association and Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists.

Mr. Yazzie is a proud member of the Navajo tribe and considers his greatest achievement to be his success in serving his tribe. In the coming years, Mr. Yazzie hopes to earn a doctorate in epidemiology or public health, and aspires to continue making a difference on behalf of his people.
