PHILADELPHIA, PA, November 02, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Anne Bovaird Nevins has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After receiving a bachelor's degree in political science, with a minor in economics, from the University of Pennsylvania in 1999, Ms. Nevins became a special assistant to the Cabinet Secretary at The White House under the administration of former President Bill Clinton between 1999 and 2001. As her career progressed, she also worked in the Federal Relations and Dignitary Program for the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, in corporate relations for the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, and as director of development for Historic Philadelphia, Inc./Once Upon a Nation between 2001 and 2005.

Ms. Nevins later received a Master of Business Administration in real estate from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 2007, where she graduated in the top 5% of her class. Subsequently, she desired to continue working in public service to make an impact on other individuals' lives. She was drawn to economic development as it offered her an opportunity to use her skills in both business and nonprofit work. Having joined the organization in 2007 and served in client-facing and strategic roles since that time, Ms. Nevins has excelled as president of the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) since 2020, a nonprofit organization that is a joint venture between the city of Philadelphia and the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia. They have served as the city's economic development corporation since 1958 with the primary mission of driving economic growth. In her position as president, Ms. Nevins oversees the strategic direction for the organization while also focusing on obtaining resources for their work.

As an accomplished professional, Ms. Nevins has received many commendations for her efforts. She was previously recognized among 40 Under 40 in Philadelphia Business Journal in 2012 and participated in the Leadership Exchange of the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia in 2013, 2016 and 2019. Additionally, she received the Leading the Way Award from the Philadelphia Public Record in 2019, and she was recently recognized among Power 100, and Women of Distinction in Philadelphia Business Journal in 2021.

Among her accomplishments as PIDC's president, Ms. Nevins is most proud of being able to provide nearly $70 million to more than 5,000 small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic and advancing a $2.5 billion phase of development at Philadelphia's Navy Yard with an unprecedented commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. She maintains professional affiliation with the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Schuylkill River Development Corporation, and Graduate Philadelphia. She also serves as the Co-Chair of the Racism and Economic Development Committee of the International Economic Development Council and contributes to her community as a board member of the Friends of Bache-Martin, the neighborhood public school.

Over the years, Ms. Nevins has attributed her professional success to the many opportunities she has received. She has also always been motivated to make a difference in her career. Looking toward the future, Ms. Nevins hopes to continue to create more jobs in Philadelphia to cultivate growth and wealth among small businesses, specifically Black and minority-owned businesses. Ultimately, she would like to lead her organization toward making a measurable impact in racial inequity and poverty in the city.
