William E. George Jr. Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Education

Mr. George has been active in the Candler County School District for over 30 years



He contributed to his community as the president of the Candler County branch of the NAACP.

    METTER, GA, November 03, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- William E. George Jr. has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. George initially obtained a Bachelor of Science from Fort Valley State University in Georgia. Soon thereafter, he served his country as a sergeant in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for two years. Upon returning to the United States, he assisted his father with the family farm in Candler County before working for the Candler County School District as an instructor in vocational agriculture for nearly 20 years. During this time, Mr. George was appointed as an advisor for the Future Farmers of America, which integrated with the National New Farmers of America after the two groups were merged.

Furthermore, Mr. George earned a Master of Science in administration from Georgia Southern University and a Master of Science in vocational agriculture from Clemson University. He subsequently served as the principal of the Candler County Training School for more than 15 years. Following his retirement from education, he contributed to his community as the president of the Candler County branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), which he helped guide toward its certification for voting at state and national conventions. He now serves as a county representative of Action PACT, serving 18 counties in the state of Georgia. Mr. George has attended several NAACP conventions, meeting several United States Presidents as a result.

Mr. George has proudly fought to remove the Confederate flag from the state capitol grounds in Columbia, South Carolina. He had also held a major role in organizing and supervising the Candler County Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade. His honors include a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Georgia NAACP and recognition as the Teacher of the Year. He holds a Gold Card with and is a Life Member of the Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons, is a Silver Life Member of the NAACP, and served as Grand Marshal of the 2008 MLK Jr. Parade in Metter, GA. He attributes his success to his deep faith and believes his mission is to help others, become a servant-leader and make the world a better place.
