He subsequently obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2002 (now Rutgers Medical School). Dr. Houghton completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He then completed his fellowship, or specialty training, in Gastroenterology, also at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
From 2008 to 2012, Dr. Houghton garnered experience as a partner at the Medical Associates of Ocean County, a multi-specialty physician group in New Jersey. Dr. Houghton then relocated to Ohio, and has served as the Medical Director of Gastroenterology for Southern Ohio Medical Center since 2012. He also educates our future doctors, serving as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Well qualified in his field, he is board certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.
