Originally involved in the graphic design industry, he subsequently planned to pursue his lifelong dream, and shortly thereafter, established the first Pooch Palace Resort in Lafayette, Indiana, in 2017.

He was also able to use his graphic design skills to design his own website and brochures. Impressively, he designed the layout of his business' separate buildings. In 2020, Mr. Whitehurst opened the second location of Pooch Palace Resort, for which he earned a feature article in the Greater Lafayette Magazine.
A qualified professional, Mr. Whitehurst holds an associate degree in management and marketing, as well as a bachelor's degree in computer graphics from Purdue University, which he obtained in 2000. Overall, Mr. Whitehurst has been grateful to have a terrific staff who works under his tutelage. Many of his employees are veterinary students who plan to be involved in the field for the rest of their career. In his community, Mr. Whitehurst volunteers and donates to local animal shelters. He also sponsors local sports teams. He has attributed his professional success to his commitment to customer service, and has strongly believed in his business idea from the very beginning. In the coming years, Mr. Whitehurst plans to open another business: a "dog bar," equipped with an outdoor area for customers to bring their dogs, enjoy the fresh air, and receive excellent food and drink service.
