Mr. Hanegan obtained a Bachelor of Science in computer science and mathematics from Villanova University in 1998. He subsequently earned a master's degree in organizational performance and workplace learning from Boise State University.

Mr. Hanegan's journey in academia started as an instructor with Northeastern University in 1998. He then prospered as a professor with both the University of California Irvine's Continuing Education Division as well as Oregon State University, teaching online web design and development courses. He is currently an adjunct instructor teaching data visualization in Boise State's Organizational Performance and Workplace learning master's program.

In parallel, Mr. Hanegan's journey in information technology started over two decades ago at TIBCO Spotfire. Mr. Hanegan joined Qlik, a data integration and analytics software company based in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, in 2014, serving as vice president of global educational services and knowledge and learning divisions until 2020 and as chief learning officer since 2019. His specialties include formulating learning strategy, systems thinking, data-informed decision making, business communication, innovation, change management, mentoring and public speaking.

Mr. Hanegan also serves as the chairman of the advisory board on the Data Literacy Project, and has served on the advisory board of GoLeanSixSigma.

Mr. Hanegan has published several books on the subject of information technology, including "Turning Data into Wisdom: How We Can Collaborate with Data to Change Ourselves, Our Organizations, and Even the World" in 2021, and has written and delivered seminars and keynote presentations globally on topics around data literacy, data analytics, data-informed decision-making, and other various soft skills required to work with data.

Mr. Hanegan attributes his success to his open-mindedness, a growth-oriented mindset, integrity and his diligent work ethic. He became involved in his profession because of his ability to communicate complex topics in an easily understandable way. In the coming years, he intends to continue aiding organizations in going through digital transformation by providing educational support.
