Phillip J. Bryson Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Academics

Dr. Bryson has thrived as Professor of Economics with the University of Arizona and Brigham Young University



    FAIRVIEW, TX, November 29, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Phillip J. Bryson has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Bryson initially obtained a Bachelor of Arts in economics, magna cum laude, from the University of Utah in 1964. He subsequently graduated with a PhD in economics from the Ohio State University in 1967. During this time, Dr. Bryson was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and Omicron Delta Epsilon.

Dr. Bryson began his career as an assistant professor, later as associate and full professor of economics with the University of Arizona between 1967 and 1988. He further excelled as Driggs Professor of Economics with Brigham Young University from 1988 to 2010. In the years since, Dr. Bryson has been Professor Emeritus with the aforementioned university.

From 1973 to 1974, Dr. Bryson completed a Humboldt research fellowship at the Free University of Berlin. He also worked as a visiting professor at the University of Munich from 1981 to 1982. In 1985 and 1989, he was appointed as an exchange fellow with the University of Economics in East Berlin, German Democratic Republic. From 1990 to 1991, Dr. Bryson was active as a visiting professor at the Philipps University of Marburg and a Fulbright fellow with the Council for International Exchange of Scholars at the Research Center for Comparative Economic Systems in Germany.

Dr. Bryson taught microeconomic and macroeconomic principles, international economics and trade theory, economic systems and international enterprise, issues in global trade and finance, comparative economic systems and socialist economics, the Soviet economic system, and the economic history of Europe and European studies. In retirement, Professor Bryson has published six books on history, politics and the economics of socialism. He attributes his success to hard work, good fortune, and the tender mercies of divinity.
