Anna Greenmun Celebrated for Dedication to her Community

Ms. Greenmun lends years of expertise to her work with Garden Park Enterprises

YOUNGTOWN, AZ, December 01, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Anna Greenmun has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

As the parent of a child with special needs, Ms. Greenmun created a program in 1971, whereby young adults with mental disabilities would separate the carbon paper within two sheets of bond paper no longer needed by data processing divisions of local banks. Her husband, who worked for International Business Machines at the banks, would take the paper to a recycling plant and within two years, accumulated enough money to expand the program from their home to the cafeteria of a local church, and eventually to an afternoon program at Garden Park School.

With help from a grant, the Greenmuns, with the endorsement and assistance of the Elementary School District, along with parents of the workers (clients) were finally able to purchase a property on 13th Avenue and Hatcher in Phoenix, Arizona. Backed by her wealth of experience and steadfast dedication to those with special needs, she continued to supervise until certification of the facility in 1975. She then served on the Board of Directors and as president of Garden Park Enterprises for three terms, continuing to serve with GPE, Inc. until they sold to Valley of the Sun Rehabilitation Center, a sheltered workshop for mentally handicapped, in 1989.

Ms. Greenmun expanded upon her expertise by earning an associate's degree in medical technology. Although her career has been filled with highlights, she is incredibly proud of conducting scientific research in plant science, helping discover the Barley Yellow Dwarf virus and the Tobacco Mosaic virus with Dr. Rochow and Dr. Ross at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, and writing up their findings in a phytopathological magazine. Looking toward the future, Ms. Greenmun intends to experience the continued growth and success of her career.
