After earning a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Polito obtained a master's degree in special and general education from the Bank Street College of Education. She subsequently graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Phoenix in 2012. Dr. Polito also completed a supervisor and administrative certification program at the Leadership Institute at Bank Street College.
Dr. Polito is affiliated with the Spady African-American and Cultural Heritage Museum, the Delray Beach Historical Society, the National Council for the Social Sciences and the National Organization for Women. She has further contributed to The Storm of '28 Memorial Park Coalition on a number of occasions. Dr. Polito was a presenter at the National Council for the Social Sciences and Free Minds Free People Conferences and locally with the Palm Beach County School District.
Dr. Polito worked as a consultant and manager before beginning a career in education. She began as a teacher for an early intervention therapeutic education program. Soon thereafter, she was appointed as an assistant principal, then as a director of middle schools in the New York City Public School system. Dr. Polito excelled as a professor at the University of Phoenix and as an educator of social sciences at Palm Beach County Schools.
Dr. Polito was notably recognized in New York City with the Bank Street College's Levitt Foundation Awards, and in Palm Beach County with the Social Studies Teacher of the Year award. She attributes her success to her drive and commitment to the present needs. In the coming years, Dr. Polito hopes to focus her career on new ventures and to continue her advocacy work.
