Marcia Osgood Sewall Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Ms. Sewall has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the fields of education, art and writing

BOSTON, MA, December 06, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Marcia Osgood Sewall with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Sewall celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After 10 years of teaching art at Lexington High School and Winchester High School in Massachusetts and working as a staff artist for the Boston Children's Museum, Ms. Sewall established herself as a prominent book illustrator and author. A very talented and diverse writer and illustrator, she has published 47 books since 1975 and created the jacket art for "Sarah, Plain and Tall", a Newbery Award winner. Ms. Sewall authored and illustrated "The Pilgrims of Plimoth", "People of the Breaking Day", "Thunder From the Clear Sky" and "James Towne: Struggle for Survival." Her first illustrated book was "Master of all Masters." Her most recent, "The Green Mist", both English folktales.

Proud of her four historical books, Ms. Sewall recalled how much fascinating research they required. She also noted how two of her illustrated books were cited among the New York Times' Best Illustrated Books, "The Story of Old Mrs. Brubeck" in 1981 and "The Nutcracker and the Sugar-Tongs" in 1978. Ms. Sewall was also honored when her works were selected for inclusion in exhibitions at the American Institute of Graphic Arts and Bratislava International Biennale.

Passionate about art since her childhood, Ms. Sewall was inspired by her parents, both creative people. It was her partner, Peter Lindenmuth, owner of a prominent Boston art gallery, who introduced her to an editor at the Atlantic Monthly Press. This led to the publication of her first children's book. From 2015 to the present she has been a reader for the College Guild, Brunswick, ME, and from 2015-2021 an active member of the board of the Maine Art Gallery Wiscasset and it secretary.

Born in Providence, RI, Ms. Sewall received a BA degree from Brown University in 1957, and in 1960 an MEd from Tufts University. What she felt most instructive to her as a potential artist was the Freshman Foundation program at RISD. She is certified as a teacher of both Art and English in Massachusetts.

In 1987, Ms. Sewall was honored with the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award for her non-fiction book "The Pilgrims of Plimoth." It received a Citation from the Colonial Dames of America that same year. Ms. Sewall received a New England Book Award for Children's Books from the New England Booksellers Association. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Sewall was cited in the 23rd edition of Who's Who of American Women.
