Specializing in medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous, uveitis, and ocular oncology, he also works as a clinical professor within the department of ophthalmology and vision science at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson. Previously, Dr. Javid refined his expertise, completing a retina fellowship at Massachusetts Eye & Ear at Harvard Medical School in Boston. His residency in ophthalmology was completed at Tulane University Medical Center from 1995 to 1998 and as an internship with the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona, between 1994 and 1995.
Among his career highlights, Dr. Javid is incredibly proud to have served as a principal investigator/sub-investigator in more than 60 national clinical research trials, many of which are still ongoing and seek to determine the efficacy of various medications and procedures. Additionally, he has contributed as an author and co-author for numerous articles published via the New England Journal of Medicine, the American Journal of Ophthalmology, Case Reports in Infectious Diseases, Brachytherapy, the Annals of Ophthalmology, and the Southern Medical Journal, among others. To remain aware of developments in the field, Dr. Javid maintains his affiliation with several relevant organizations, including the American Society of Retina Specialists, the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Medical Association (AMA), the Arizona Ophthalmology Society, the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, the American Association for Physician Leadership, and the International Society of Ocular Oncology, to name a few.
Dr. Javid initially pursued his college education at Carroll College, where he earned his Bachelor's degree with honors in 1989. Following this accomplishment, he continued his studies at the University of Illinois, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 1994. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Finally, Dr. Javid concluded his academic efforts at the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona, where he obtained a Master of Business Administration in 2021.
Highly respected for his contributions in retinal medicine, Dr. Javid has received various accolades from the medical community, including awards from the AMA and AAO. Outside of his primary career endeavors, Dr. Javid has performed free eye care and surgeries for the Lions Club since 1999, as well as free eye screenings for underserved members of his local community.
