Kimberly Zimmer Aulenback Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Literacy

Mrs. Aulenback lends years of experience in journalism and education to her work with Bookworm Babies.

BELMONT, MA, December 09, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kimberly Zimmer Aulenback has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Kimberly Zimmer Aulenback, M.Ed., graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor's of Science in Journalism, and from Lesley University with a Master's Degree in Elementary Education.

In addition to working as a college administrator for four years, she has 15 years of elementary teaching experience in both urban and suburban settings, most recently completing a decade as a part of the Weston Public Schools, which has been recognized nationally for excellence, and ranked as the number one school system in Massachusetts by Boston Magazine. Additionally, Mrs. Aulenback acted as the technology coordinator for an elementary school in Brookline, MA for two years, and in Weston was a leader in both integrating existing technologies into the curriculum and piloting new technology. During her tenure, Mrs. Aulenback earned a Japan-Fulbright Memorial Fund Teaching Scholarship, and spent time in Japan collaborating with Japanese teachers in a cultural and educational exchange focusing on reading and math. She also served as the Vice President of the Weston Education Association and member of the National Education Association. One of the nicest rewards of her time spent in the classroom is having former students reach out to her to thank her for making a difference in their lives.

For many years, Mrs. Aulenback analyzed, developed, and differentiated instruction (for both struggling, grade level, and advanced readers) for reading curricula, including assessment, teaching, and support of active reading strategies, benchmark monitoring, and intervention approaches. She is trained in Reading Readiness and Recovery, Guided Reading, Leveled Literacy Intervention, and Non-verbal Communication, as well as holistic curriculum development, in which connections are made to all subjects through reading.

Along the way, Zimmer Aulenback took advantage of interesting opportunities to learn new skills and broaden her perspective. A writer, resourcer, and designer, Mrs. Aulenback at one time served as Assistant to the Editor of "Playdays", a magazine for preschool-aged children in London, England. As such, she wrote rebuses for publication, researched education tie-ins, and drafted layouts. In addition, for more than 15 years, she worked as a photographer for Work of Art Studios, where she specialized in wedding photography and honed her skill in journalistic photography as well. She also earned a graduate certificate from Boston's Improv Asylum's improv training program, which helped her to "think outside the box" and strengthened her ability to think on her feet. It helped her to see more humor in the world and to bring a new point of view into the classroom and, later, into her training sessions. She has also run the Boston Marathon, acted in local theater productions, summited Mount Kilimanjaro, learned to surf in Costa Rica, hiked up Machu Picchu and learned to cook.

A seasoned educator with a proven track record of success in literacy advocacy and support, Mrs. Aulenback currently excels as the co-author and illustrator of Bookworm Babies, an easy-to-follow handbook designed by teachers for the parents of infants, toddlers and preschoolers that guides parents through the Bookworm Babies Method, a nurturing and empowering strategy for enhancing the benefits of book-sharing through conversation starters. Bookworm Babies' online presence provides practical tips on how to cultivate literacy in young children.

As an educational consultant, she enjoys guiding parents and caregivers to stronger reading relationships with their children, and working with her co-author, Dawn Tringas, to help companies add educational components to their products. Mrs. Aulenback and Mrs. Tringas also lead seminars teaching caregivers and service providers to use the Bookworm Babies Method; they have worked with organizations such as the U.S. Army's Zero to Three program, and Raising a Reader.

Alongside her primary responsibilities with Bookworm Babies, Mrs. Aulenback is an enthusiastic supporter of her community; she served as a coordinator for the advisory board for Boston University School of Education's Early Childhood Education Program and is the director of the Early Childhood Learning Scholarship Fund. She has also acted as room parent and lunch monitor for her children's elementary school.

Kimberly and her husband, Eric, a restauranteur, are parents of two wonderful children. Their love of story, and growth into readers, writers, athletes, friends and good humans are a true joy. Looking ahead, Mrs. Aulenback intends to travel with her family, in addition to engaging more in charity work and educational support.
