In his career, Mr. White's areas of expertise have included emergency medical services and human factors affecting safety. Since 2012, he has excelled as the director of safety with Healthnet Aeromedical, a nationally recognized industry leader in high-quality, technologically advanced not-for-profit critical care transport systems. The 500-employee company, based in Charleston, operates eleven aircraft flying from nine strategically located bases, deploys more than 30 ambulances and serves Central Appalachia and beyond.
Mr. White is certified as a medical transport safety professional by the Association of Air Medical Services. A nationally certified flight paramedic and a nationally registered paramedic, he likewise garnered certifications as a healthcare safety professional, drafter and emergency medical technician. Mr. White was further certified as a critical care paramedic in West Virginia.
For nearly 10 years, Mr. White served his community as a firefighter and paramedic with the Charleston Fire Department, with which he remains active as a volunteer. He has also worked as a mine engineer and as a fire service teacher for West Virginia Public Service Training, teaching firefighter safety courses for the National Fire Academy at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmetsburg, Maryland. Mr. White has also operated as a fusion liaison officer with the West Virginia Department of Homeland Security.
In what he considers a career highlight, Mr. White was presented with a Safety in Emergency Medical Service Award from the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, for which he is a state representative, in 2021. He is also a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals.
Mr. White attributes his success to a lot of patience, as his career has taken time and effort as well as understanding from family and friends. He began volunteering as a firefighter at the age of 18 and became interested in getting involved in safety services professionally after witnessing injuries to his fellow firefighters and paramedics. Mr. White's goal in the coming years is to establish a safety program that other EMS agencies across the country can utilize.
