AUBURN, AL, December 15, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Benjamin C. Datiri, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Datiri celebrates many years of experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.

Dr. Datiri is an environmental scientist and non-tenured track faculty member at Tuskegee University in Alabama. Originally a research associate on campus from 1990 to 1993 and a research technician between 1993 and 1995, he took a brief hiatus to accept a position at Selma University in Alabama as an associate research professor from 1996 until 1998. Returning to Tuskegee, Dr. Datiri is now a non-tenured track research associate professor in the department of pathobiology since 1998.

In addition to teaching the Lab Animal Management course during the spring semester, and training, tutoring and mentoring staff members, students and interns, Dr. Datiri has supervised the campus research facility as the assistant director of the Animal Care Comparative Medicine Resource Center since 2003. His research interests notably include the movement of agrochemicals and consequences on surface and groundwater, as well as environmental pollutions, endocrine disruptors and reproduction effects. Among his greatest accomplishments as a seasoned researcher, Dr. Datiri was responsible for the discovery that chisel and no-till tillage systems reduce surface runoff and increase infiltration. Devoted to solving various issues relating to the improvement of human life, he has found great reward in leaving the world in a better position than when he found it.

Dr. Datiri began his career in the U.S., having previously spent a year as an agricultural officer II for the Plateau State Ministry of Agriculture in Lafia, Nigeria, during 1979. He subsequently became a graduate assistant and an assistant lecturer at Ahmadu Bellow University from 1979 to 1980 and between 1980 and 1982, respectively. Additionally, Dr. Datiri had the opportunity to work at the University of Wisconsin in Madison as a research assistant from 1983 until 1984 while pursuing his doctorate degree.

Aside from his academic commitments, Dr. Datiri has been a pastor at Mount Traveler Missionary Baptist Church in Waverly, Alabama, since 2004. His interest in ministry began in high school, where he served as the president of a local evangelism group and was involved in Bible study and a local outreach program. Dr. Datiri later taught Sunday school, became a layman preacher and, among other involvements, served as the president of the African Christian Students in the U.S. Prior to joining his current church, he was an associate minister at Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church, where he led the Friendship Evangelism Ministry and taught Sunday school, Bible study and a New Testament class.

An alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria, Dr. Datiri received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in 1978 and 1982, respectively. He also attained a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin in 1989. He is a certified recombinant DNA technician through the National Institutes of Health and a registered laboratory animal technologist through the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science. Dr. Datiri also became an ordained pastor through Mount Traveler Missionary Baptist Church in 2004.

Dr. Datiri was a Plateau State Graduate Scholar of the Government of Nigeria between 1983 and 1986. He has since received several awards and recognitions, including an Outstanding Leadership Award from the Tuskegee University chapter of Sigma Xi in 1992, a Church Recreation League Leadership Award from Macon County of Alabama in 1992, and a Basketball Coaches Award from the Tuskegee-Macon County YMCA in 1994.
