PORTLAND, ME, December 20, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kimberly O'Donnell, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Drawing on more than 30 years of educational experience, Dr. O'Donnell has excelled as an assistant superintendent for the Westbrook School Department since 2020. In addition to supporting her superintendent through a number of committees, she works closely with instructional coaches and monitors the efficacy of various interventional programs. Dr. O'Donnell previously served as an assistant principal and principal of Buxton Center Elementary School for more than 10 years.
Prior to her administrative career, Dr. O'Donnell was active as a kindergarten through grade six educator. During this period, she developed a deep passion for improving achievement in students from disadvantaged populations. Alongside her responsibilities as an assistant superintendent, Dr. O'Donnell has been affiliated with the American Association of School Administrators, the School Superintendents Association, the Maine Curriculum Leaders Association and the National Association of Elementary School Principals.
In 2015, the National Association of Elementary School Principals recognized Dr. O'Donnell as the Assistant Principal of the Year for the state of Maine. She attributes a great deal of her success to the guidance of her former mentors. In the coming years, she intends to further her advocacy efforts in relation to educational equity. Dr. O'Donnell recently utilized her expertise in this area to contribute to a book, titled "Connecting Theory in Practice in Middle School Literacy."
