Previously, Mr. Miller was active as a tool and die maker for Sauer Danfoss Power Solutions between 1990 and 2010, and as a forge operator at Star Manufacturing from 1987 to 1990.
Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Miller is incredibly proud to have risen out of poverty and succeeded as an entrepreneur. After working at his farm for several years, he embarked on a silent partnership in the restaurant industry with a co-worker, who eventually left the business entirely to him and his wife. Though they knew little about the field, Mr. Miller is especially grateful to have thrived at This Is It Eatery.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Miller earned an Associate of Science in business management from Freeport Senior High School in 1984. He is also a graduate of the Highland Leadership Institute via Highland Community College. To remain aware of developments in the field, he maintains his affiliation with such organizations as the American Corn Growers Association, the American Soybean Association and the Illinois Beef Growers Association. Moreover, Mr. Miller was recruited as a board director for his local county farm bureau.
Esteemed for his accomplishments, Mr. Miller's restaurant was nominated on six occasions for a regional award, and placed first as the Best in the Region four times. Likewise, he has accrued various accolades for the quality of his livestock. He applied for and received two $2,500 grants; he donated one to the Freeport rural fire department and the other to the Freeport High School FFA chapter.
He credits much of his success on his longtime adherence to the golden rule, as well as the lessons that he has learned through hard experience. Moreover, Mr. Miller has benefited richly under the guidance of multiple mentors, who are too numerous to name.
