RICHMOND, VA, December 22, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jay M. Ipson has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Ipson, born Jacob Ipp (birthdate June 5, 1935), in Lithuania, escaped from the Kovno Concentration Camp and later from the Russians in Lithuania in 1944, and arrived in Germany in 1945. Jay and his parents, Edna and Israel Ipp, left Germany and arrived in the United States in 1947. He was 12 years old at the time.

At the age of 18, he joined the United States Army Reserve and enrolled in the University of Richmond for coursework in accounting and speech. He then served as an instructor in 80th Division 318th Regiment teaching office equipment, typing and wheel vehicle mechanics in the Judge Advocate General's Corps. Mr. Ipson later rose to the rank of Colonel in the Virginia Defense Force Aviation Brigade as Commander between 1988 and 1992.

Inspired to enter the automotive industry by his father, who began as a lawyer in Lithuania and subsequently bought an automotive service station in the United States, Mr. Ipson served as the chief executive officer of American Auto Parts Company in Hopewell, VA for 50 years. After his participation in the Anti-Defamation League meetings and delivering lectures to local student groups about the Holocaust, he co-founded the Virginia Holocaust Museum with backing from financial and legislative leaders, which included United States Representative Eric Cantor. The Museum was established in 1997 and was relocated to a permanent home in 2003. Its mission is to preserve and document the Holocaust in exhibits, as well as archive collections and inspire future generations to fight prejudice and indifference to atrocities.

Presently, Mr. Ipson strives to promote the Holocaust Insurance Accountability Act, which would allow Holocaust survivors to take German insurance companies to court in the Unites States for claims long denied. In addition, he was appointed by former Governor Bob McDonnell to serve on the Virginia Israel Advisory Board, whose intent is to bring Israeli businesses to the state. He was chairman of the American Society of Automotive Engineers in Virginia from 1982-1983. Mr. Ipson hopes to assure the continued remembrance by lecturing about the Holocaust to students and military installations.
