After earning a diploma at Hamden High School in Hamden, Connecticut, Dr. Margoles studied at Trinity College, where she attained a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry in 1981. She subsequently completed a Master of Science in neuroscience and psychology at the University of Hartford in 1987 and a Doctor of Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College in 1991. Additional educational pursuits to her credit include a residency in general surgery at Harvard Beth Israel Hospital, where she was blessed to receive mentorship from Dr. Robert Goldwyn, who was a renowned expert in his field and the chief of plastic surgery. From there, Dr. Margoles completed a research fellowship in plastic surgery at Harvard Massachusetts General Hospital and a clinical residency in plastic surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine at New York University. She is a board-certified plastic surgeon and is licensed to practice in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York.
As a commitment to her profession, Dr. Margoles is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons. She is also a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, where she is active on the organization's social medical committee and symposium committee. Additionally, Dr. Margoles is active with the Dartmouth Medical School as an alumni council leadership annual giving committee.
Dr. Margoles has received numerous top surgeon awards in recognition of her work, including a First Place in Plastic Surgery for a paper that she presented before the American College of Surgeons and a First Place in Plastic Surgery from the American Association of Hand Surgery. She also secured several research grants, a United Nations fellowship and a National Institutes of Health research fellowship.
