Dr. Stewart has accrued decades of experience in medicine and education. He initially pursued a formal education at Vanderbilt University in 1984, from which he graduated with a bachelor's degree in engineering, summa cum laude. Thereafter, he earned a Doctor of Medicine from Johns Hopkins University in 1988 and a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas in 1996. Dr. Stewart has also been distinguished as a diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology and is a fellow of the American Laryngological, Rhinological and Otological Society and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Stewart began his career as an assistant professor at the Baylor College of Medicine. Four years later, he was appointed to serve as the assistant dean of clinical affairs at the Baylor College of Medicine, a role in which he excelled until 2000. Meanwhile, he also worked at the Baylor College of Medicine as the director of affiliated medical services and as the residency director in the department of otolaryngology. A valued practitioner of his field, Dr. Stewart remained with the college until 2005, at which point he accepted a position as the chief otolaryngologist at the New York Presbyterian Hospital, a role in which he continues to flourish.
Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Stewart has held a number of roles. To wit, he has been called upon as the chief of otolaryngology, the chairman of many medical boards, the executive vice president of the American Rhinologic Society, a senior examiner and director of the American Board of Otolaryngology and the vice dean of Weill Cornell Medical College. He presently performs duties as a professor and chairman of the department of otolaryngology and head and neck surgery, as well as the senior associate dean of international affairs and affiliations at Weill Cornell Medical College.
