SAN DIEGO, CA, January 11, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Captain Allan Jan Glick with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Captain Glick celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Captain Glick has led a long and successful career at sea, beginning in 1982 as an instructor for the International School of Sailing and Sailboat South Charters in both Florida and the Virgin Islands. In 1984, he became captain of the sailing yacht "Yesterday's Dream", doing full service charters in the Caribbean. He subsequently purchased his own sailing vessel, the "Amelia Rose" which provided sailing and guided snorkeling tours in the Virgin Islands from 1990 to 1994. Over the next several years, Captain Glick earned various opportunities as a captain with San Diego Parasail Adventures, San Diego Harbor Excursions and "The Treasure Seeker" and with Next Level Sailing aboard the "Schooner America '' as a crewmember. In 2013 Captain Glick joined San Diego Sailing Tours, working his way up to become their lead captain and continues there providing highly acclaimed tours. Additionally, since 2015, he has served as a staff captain for two of the Maritime Museum of San Diego's tallships, the "Californian", a 140 foot topsail schooner replica of a ship from 1847 and is the Official Tall Ship of California, and the "San Salvador" which is a replica of a Spanish galleon from 1539.

As an extension of his career, Captain Glick has worked as an actor for San Diego Pirate Adventures, an entertainment company that specializes in interactive pirate themed shows, since 2013. He is also a certified sailing instructor with the American Sailing Association, where he teaches courses that vary from basic sailing to coastal navigation.

Captain Glick has sailed to many exotic places, including the Caribbean islands, the US and British Virgin Islands, Saint Bart's in the French Islands and Nevis. Among his experiences, he especially enjoys doing sailing tours out of a passion for sharing nautical heritage with guests and the sites, history and Naval presence of San Diego Bay. In the future, when it is time to retire as a captain, Captain Glick hopes to become docent at the Maritime Museum of San Diego.

Developing a passion for sailing when he was just five years old, Captain Glick began sailing at age 12 and began racing his sailboat at age 14. After graduating high school, he studied marine engineering at the State University of New York Maritime College from 1969 to 1970, where he was one of four freshmen on the varsity sailing team. He subsequently transferred to Boston University, where he was on their sailing team and acquired a Bachelor of Science in education, with an emphasis in history and social studies, in 1975. Furthermore, he earned a diploma from the Chapman School of Seamanship in Stuart Florida, in 1982. Captain Glick has been a professional U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain for more than 35 years and has held a professional captain's license since 1982.
