Mr. Nettemeyer earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with dual majors in accounting and marketing from St. Louis University if 1973. He worked for local manufacturers in the St. Louis area in supervisory roles. He began his career at Emerson Power Transmission in 1979 as a District Manager progressing to a Regional Manager position in 1982. Subsequently he accepted the leadership position of Vice-President Sales and Marketing for the Harris Calorific division of Emerson Electric in 1986. Mr. Nettemeyer subsequently became the Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for the Chromalox division of Emerson Electric in 1992 serving in that role until 2001 when he accepted the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Valin Corporation.
In that role, Mr. Nettemeyer led the company to 100% employee ownership in 2007. In his current capacity, Mr. Nettemeyer as Executive Chairman is responsible for executing the management succession plan for Valin Corporation. His focus is working with the management team that is developing and implementing the company's strategy. Going forward Mr. Nettemeyer aims to transition more responsibility to the management team, who will continue to lead the company as an employee-owned business.
Mr. Nettemeyer has focused on the development of people throughout his career. As CEO he invested aggressively in the development of Valin employees. He supported his industry serving as the Chairman of the Institute for Distribution Excellence and Chairman of the National Association of Wholesale Distributors Executive Board. In addition to he has served on the Advisory Board of Texas A&M's School of Industrial Distribution. He and his wife have donated funds to equip the innovation center in the school's new building starting construction in 2022. In addition to those roles, he has served on the Board of Directors for Family Links in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, The Children's Discovery Museum in San Jose, California, and Partners in Sustainable Development. Mr. Nettemeyer serves on the fund-raising committee for the McBride Legacy Scholarship program in support of Chaminade Preparatory High School in St. Louis. He and his wife sponsor 30 two-year schools in Bangladesh that focus on educating children of the ultra-poor, seeking to eliminate illiteracy. He is committed to the belief that knowledge is wealth, and he works diligently to provide opportunities to the men and women of the wholesale industry, young men at Chaminade, and the children of Bangladesh and San Jose, California.
To remain aware of developments in his field, Mr. Nettemeyer is a past chairman of the National Association of Wholesalers, and a member of the advisory board for the Texas A&M University School of Industrial Distribution. He also started a two-year program in Bangladesh to prepare children for taking a test that would allow them to enter into schools.
