Julie Taylor has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Ms. Taylor oversees welfare and protection for children, adults and veterans in the community



She was bestowed with the Champion for Children Award from the Child Welfare League of America.

    PENDLETON, OR, January 13, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Julie Taylor has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Before embarking upon her professional journey, Ms. Taylor earned a Bachelor of Science in social science and Native American studies, after which she attained a Master of Social Work from Portland State University in 2011. She began her career working as an intern for the National Indian Child Welfare Association and the Northwest Portland Area Indian Board. Since 2012, Ms. Taylor has served as the director of the Department of Children Family Services for the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR). In this role, she oversees operations for child welfare and protection, as well as operations for adults, the elderly and veterans. She is also a youth advisor for the CTUIR Youth Leadership Council.

Ms. Taylor dedicates herself and her career to serving her community. She is a member of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) Advisory Committee. She also served as a past CTUIR Board of Trustees Member and appointed to serve as chairperson of the CTUIR Education Committee, the CTUIR Tribal Employment Rights Office, the Head Start Policy Council, and the Nixyaawii Community School Board. Likewise, Ms. Taylor served as the co-chair for the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indian Youth Committee.

Drawing inspiration from the example of her grandmother, Ellen Burke Cowapoo, Ms. Taylor pursued an education in social work to help provide services to the youth in her community. She was bestowed with the Champion for Children Award from the Child Welfare League of America for her work in this area. Looking toward the future, Ms. Taylor plans to continue her work with youth leadership to help afford them the opportunities they need.
