Maria McNeil Williams Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Nursing

Ms. Williams has found success as a nurse practitioner and substance abuse specialist since 2014



The Montana Hospital Association honored Ms. Williams' work with Providence St. Joseph Medical Center's Medicine Assisted Treatment Program with the Excellence in Behavioral Health Service Award.

    POLSON, MT, January 17, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Maria McNeil Williams has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Since 2014, Ms. Williams has excelled as a nurse practitioner at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson, Montana. Due to her expertise in addiction medicine, she leads the aforementioned medical center's medicine-assisted treatment program and regularly treats patients for opioid use disorder, stimulant use disorder and alcohol use disorder. In addition, Ms. Williams also administers medication to help patients stabilize their mental health and overcome debilitating symptoms of withdrawal.

Prior to her recruitment at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, Ms. Williams gained expertise as a nurse practitioner in the intensive care unit of Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Alongside her responsibilities as a nurse practitioner, she maintains an active affiliation with the Northwest Chapter of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and contributes to the Mission Valley Animal Shelter as a board member. To attest to her career, Ms. Williams earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Montana Technological University and then a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan School of Nursing in 2013.

In 2020, the Montana Hospital Association honored Ms. Williams' work with Providence St. Joseph Medical Center's Medicine Assisted Treatment Program with the Excellence in Behavioral Health Service Award. She attributes a great deal of her success to the support of her family, friends and colleagues. In the coming years, Ms. Williams intends to continue helping her patients recover from substance use disorders while furthering her knowledge of the psychological and biological aspects of addiction.
