As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

As an infant, Mrs. Lytes was diagnosed with type 1 juvenile diabetes. Five years later, she attended Camp Glydon, a diabetic camp, where children were trained and taught how to manage their condition. As a six year old, she could monitor her blood sugar, administer her own insulin and became independent regarding her care. At the age of 43 she received a pancreas transplant, it stopped the Diabetes! At the start of her medical career, Mrs. Lytes worked as a front secretary (contractor) for the National Institute of Health, then a front desk medical clerk and patient receptionist for Virginia Commonwealth University, and as an Appointing Center Agent (contractor, scheduling specialist) for Integrated Referral Management in Bethesda Maryland. As a contractor in this position she worked with officers, troops, and dependents for all branches of the US military.

Inspired by her personal experiences, Mrs. Lytes established her own business in 2014 with hopes of providing information on the subject of diabetes. Supported by years of professional expertise and personal experiences, she excels today with her husband as the owner of Lytes LLC, through which she provides advocacy services to the University of Maryland Medical Center & Transplant Team, Maryland Endocrine, and the American Diabetes Association. Mrs. Lytes also serves and aligns herself as a member of the health and wellness team at First Baptist Church of Highland Park.

Due to her vast breadth of professional and personal knowledge, Mrs. Lytes is working on a documentary through Lytes LLC and is featured in a book, "She's Type I," which was written by her mother. In light of her considerable achievements, she earned a Gold Medal through Eli Lilly and Company and received an award for being the youngest to successfully manage her diabetes. In the coming years, Mrs. Lytes aims to complete her documentary for those with diabetes and publish a book about the subject as well.
