Steven W. Hermes Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Law

Mr. Hermes channels years of legal expertise to his work as a consultant for the Central Intelligence Agency



Steven W. Hermes is honored to have been provided the opportunity to serve and support the CIA's operations officers.

    VIENNA, VA, January 28, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Steven W. Hermes has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts in history from Boston University in the mid-1970s, Mr. Hermes earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Virginia in 1977 and earned admission to practice through the Virginia and District of Columbia Bar Associations. During the early stages of his career, he represented Mayer, Brown & Platt's Chicago-based clients before a wide range of regulatory agencies and courts. He subsequently worked as a generalist attorney for OGC, where he served as an ethics expert and the chief of the Legislation Division for the Office of Congressional Affairs of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). In his roles, he managed a small legal unit that maintained responsibility for preparing the agency's Annual Authorization Act.

Over the years, Mr. Hermes gained valuable expertise in varying roles with the CIA, including as Chief of the Operations Support Division, Counsel to the National Clandestine Service, and Deputy General Counsel for Operations for the Agency's Office of General Counsel. Drawing upon his considerable expertise, he excels today as a business consultant for clients in the intelligence community and the defense and national security arena. He is an advisor to Digital Assets Corporation, counsel to Vint Hill Solutions, and a member of the Council on Intelligence Issues.

Due to his outstanding body of work, Mr. Hermes received the William Donovan Award in 2009 for his service to CIA's Operational Directorate, the Kathy Stewart Award from the CIA's Office of General Counsel also in 2009, and the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal in 2014. While his career has been filled with highlights, he is honored to have been provided the opportunity to serve and support the CIA's operations officers. Looking toward the future, Mr. Hermes intends to continue assisting the intelligence community for many years to come.
