Demetria F. Davis Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Administration

In coming years, Demetria F. Davis sees herself advancing in her career in public service.

ROMULUS, MI, February 01, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Demetria F. Davis has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Prior to embarking on her professional path in public service, then Demetria Freeman obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Elizabeth City State University in 1993. Later in 1993, Demetria married her sweetheart, Martin Davis, Jr and moved to Durham North Carolina to start on her Master of Public Administration degree at North Carolina Central University. In 1995, Davis moved to Chesapeake VA.

Davis started her career in public service by working with the City of Chesapeake's Treasurer's office in 1995. Later she was promoted to a Customer Service Supervisor with the City of Chesapeake's Department of Public Utilities where she served until 2004. In 2004, Davis took a hiatus in her career path to be available to her three children, Martin, Daniele, and Jeffrey.

Davis and her family moved to Michigan in 2007. While in Michigan, Davis worked part-time as a substitute teacher. In 2008, Davis re-enrolled at North Carolina Central University (distance learning) to complete her Master of Public Administration degree. In 2009, Davis graduated cum laude from North Carolina Central University and accepted a position with ITT Technical Institute, located in Canton MI, as an Adjunct Instructor. There she taught general education classes, such as American Government and Strategies.

In 2011, Davis accepted a position with the State of Michigan's Department of Health and Human Services as an Eligibility Specialist. Since then, she has served as an Assistance Payments Supervisor and is now serving as a Family Independence Manager.

Davis attributes her success to her faith in God, her parents, and her family. She cites her greatest achievement as her three children, who have all made her proud as they have each graduated from college. In coming years, Davis sees herself advancing in her career in public service.

Davis lives by the old saying "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life." It is through public service that Davis embraces the opportunity to teach a man to fish.
