Since 2020, Dr. Thompson has excelled as a clinical critical care pharmacist at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. In this position, she focuses on ensuring safe and evidence-based administration of medication for critically ill patients. Dr. Thompson also regularly educates pharmacy students and residents, nurses, medical residents, and other medical professionals about various pharmaceutical matters such the safety risks of popular sedatives or anesthetics, proper utilization of vasoactive agents and principles of antimicrobial use.

Prior to her success at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Dr. Thompson obtained a Doctor of Pharmacy at the Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She subsequently completed a pharmacy practice residency at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas before pursuing a second residency in critical care pharmacy at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Alongside her primary responsibilities as a clinical critical care pharmacist, Dr. Thompson maintains her affiliation with the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American Burn Association, and Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity Inc.

In recognition of her exemplary work in the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics' intensive care units and burn unit, Dr. Thompson was selected for a SPOT Performance Award in 2021. She attributes a great deal of her success to her parents, both of whom exemplified an exceptionally strong work ethic. In the coming years, Dr. Thompson intends to stay devoted to patient care, expanding her skill set while contributing to medical advancement with research, and seeking leadership positions within the aforementioned professional organizations.
