Mr. Mestas is the proud Founder and President of Dog Training Elite Franchising LLC in Lehi, Utah. Having established the business in 2015, he offers an array of services to pet owners, from obedience and puppy training to those with anxiety or aggression, destructive behaviors and other common issues. Mr. Mestas also specialized in training service dogs for individuals with various special needs, as well as preparing puppies to participate in volunteer work.
Contributing over 45 years of expertise to the field, Mr. Mestas and his team of local dog trainers work around the schedules of pet owners to better serve their needs. As trainers, their ultimate goal is to better the relationship between owners and their dogs, thus strengthening the bond between them for a more harmonious relationship.
Having departed from the corporate sector, Mr. Mestas first established Arrow Kennels in 1976. The company was named for his first competitive dog, Arrow, whom he had originally trained to hunt waterfowl. Enrolling in a dog training class, he began participating in various competitions and won first place at an AKC obedience trial in Idaho. As Mr. Mestas' passion for dog training became evident, he began competing in AKC obedience trials, hunt tests and field trials. Having won seven high in trial awards, trained Junior, Senior, and Master hunters and qualified all age dogs.
Presently, Mr. Mestas and his wife, Robin, with whom he collaborates in Dog Training Elite Franchising, LLC, share common interests that not only include training dogs, but also being of service to the community. Focusing on their strengths, they split their responsibilities. Mr. Mestas oversees marketing, sales, and training operations, while Robin serves as their chief financial officer. Looking forward to the future, their goal is to expand Dog Training Elite to be located in all 50 states.
In his free time, Mr. Mestas frequently contributes to his local community by offering free dog training services through the Malinois Foundation to veterans, first responders, women survivors, and children with special needs. The Malinois Foundation is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Sandy, Utah; it was founded by Robin, and their daughter, Kelley who are on the board of directors. The organization raises an average of $100,000 each year to train service dogs for our communities.
Mr. Mestas has been a member of the Professional Retriever Trainers Association, and the International Association of Canine Professionals. He is also a former board member of the Utah Valley Kennel Club, Vice President of the Great Salt Lake Retriever Club, and served on the Board of Directors for the Northern Utah Retriever Club. Recognized for his achievements as a dog trainer, Dog Training Elite has won first place in their category in Utah's Best of State.
