Driven by a passion to help other people succeed, Dr. Hare excels today as the owner and principal consultant of Statistical Strategies LLC, through which he consults with various companies on data-driven decision-making. He teaches companies to leverage data to streamline their R&D and manufacturing processes. During an earlier stage of his career, Dr. Hare gained valuable expertise in the field as the Director of Applied Statistics for Kraft Foods and Nabisco Inc., as Chief of the Statistical Engineering Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and as Director of Technical Services at Thomas, J. Lipton, Inc., a subsidiary of Unilever.
His prior experience includes consulting for CPC International, serving as Statistics Group Leader for Wesson Hunt-Foods, and teaching statistics at Rutgers University and at California State University at Fullerton. Prior to working in the field, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Colorado College, served as an army lieutenant in Vietnam, went on to earn Master of Science degree in applied and mathematical statistics, then spent six years in industry and returned to academia to earn his doctor's degree Rutgers University.
To remain aware of advances in the field, Dr. Hare has been active in the American Statistical Association, and the American Society for Quality, both for over 50 years, and he has been named a Fellow of both societies. Recently, he participated in the formation of the International Statistical Engineering Association, where he serves as Editor-in-Chief of its "Handbook of Statistical Engineering." He serves as an Editorial Board member for Quality Progress and Quality Engineering, both on the forefront of industrial statistics technology. Though his career has been filled with highlights, he is quite proud to have invented a technology that assisted the manufacturing team at Kraft/Nabisco, for which he was honored with its Technical Leadership Award. The Kraft Finance Department's citation referenced savings of hundreds of millions of dollars resulting from productivity and quality improvements he initiated. After beginning his own consulting business, he received the Hahn Award from the American Statistical Association for excellence in statistical consulting leading to productivity and quality improvements.
He retired from industry in 2008 and has been consulting for various companies since. Dr. Hare intends to continue his work as a consultant and make a difference in the lives of others by teaching and facilitating data driven decisions.
