Dr. Parrett earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Bowling Green State University in 1973 and went on to attain a Doctor of Dental Science from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1976. An expert in the field of general dentistry, he began his career as the head of the department of dentistry at the Chillicothe Correctional Institute in 1977. He continued his career in private practice between 1978 and 1987. From 2006 until 2012, he worked on the faculty of the University of Maryland's Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. In addition to his career, Dr. Parrett also served as the president for the Cumberland Valley Dental Society from 2012 to 2014.
In 1998, Dr. Parrett served as the vice chairman for the library and education committee for the Chambersburg Hospital Medical Staff. He has also served as the owner of Cumberland Valley Dental Care since 2007. As part of his dedication to his field, he maintains his membership with the American Academy of the History of Dentistry and the International Dental Health Foundation. Dr. Parrett is also a fellow for the Academy of General Dentistry, the president of the fifth district of the Pennsylvania Dental Association, the chairman of the scholarship committee for the Cumberland Valley Dental Society and a member of the finance committee for the Academy of Laser Dentistry.
Having long aspired to work in medicine, Dr. Parrett become a dentist due to the considerable need for dental professionals at the time he was pursuing his education. Looking toward the future, he aspires to continue working as a teacher and mentor, as well as taking on more speaking engagements at industry conferences.
