RUTHERFORD, NJ, February 11, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shamyla M. Farrukh has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Farrukh was initially inspired to pursue a career in pediatric medicine after having cared for her brother, who had Down syndrome, throughout her childhood. She earned a Doctor of Medicine from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in 2011. Thereafter, she garnered experience as a pediatric resident at the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System's Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center.
After working as a pediatric emergency medicine fellow at RWJBarnabas Health, Dr. Farrukh was recruited to serve as a pediatric emergency medicine attending at the Northwell Health Staten Island University Hospital in 2017. In this role, she treats a variety of pediatric patients. She is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Though she has accomplished much, she credits the highlight of her career as having been able to witness sick children improve and recover as a result of her treatments. In five years, Dr. Farrukh would like to do more lectures and simulation training.
