LOS ANGELES, CA, February 16, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Alfred J. Paltus has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

For more than 40 years, Alfred J. Paltus dedicated himself to education as an exceptional and impactful public school teacher—whose expertise in and around the subject of history, and beyond, has shaped the minds of several generations of students.

Born and initially raised in Lithuania, Mr. Paltus relocated to Brooklyn, New York, at a young age in 1946. A gifted student who has always loved to learn, his aspirations of one day teaching developed early on. He first pursued higher education at Los Angeles City College, where he obtained an Associate in Arts in 1958; he followed up this accomplishment by enrolling at UCLA, the prestigious institute that equipped him with a Bachelor of Arts with honors in 1960 and a Master of Arts in history in 1962. Wanting to awaken young minds through his passion for knowledge, he became certified by the state of California with a lifetime standard teaching credential in 1969, and launched his rewarding career as a teacher at Horace Mann Junior High School within the Los Angeles Unified School District. He immediately made a name for himself as a unique teacher who was well-versed in his subjects. Mr. Paltus remained at the middle school until 1980 before becoming a teacher of 10th grade world history, 11th grade US history, and 12th grade government and economics at Bell High School, also part of the LA Unified School District, where he taught until his retirement in 2013.

As a testament to his legacy as an educator, Mr. Paltus was honored with a Teacher of the Year Award for history from Bell High School at the end of his career. He has also been recognized as a listee for the Marquis Who's Who Top Professionals series. Speaking to those who wish to follow in his professional footsteps, he encouraged that success in education is possible for anybody, no matter their background or culture. "People are much more alike than they are different," he said. "The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take that away from you. It's not where you come from…it's where you're going that counts." On that note, Mr. Paltus hopes that his legacy is that of an excellent educator whose reach went beyond just explaining facts that were needed in order to do well on exams. In fact, one of his former students once reunited with him 12 years after graduation and has said, "No teacher, not even my college professors, influenced me as much as Mr. Paltus…and I don't remember them as well as him."

In his spare time, he enjoys fully enjoying life by practicing yoga, traveling, playing chess, and reading about the history of Ancient Greece and Rome.
