Christopher L. Kolakowski Recognized for Expertise in Military History

A trusted voice in the field of history, Mr. Kolakowski is the director of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum



An expert in military history, museum operations, transformation and strategic planning, he served as the director of the General George Patton Museum and Center of Leadership.

    MADISON, WI, February 21, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Christopher L. Kolakowski has been included in Marquis Who's Who. He initially pursued a formal education at Emory and Henry College, from which he graduated with a bachelor's degree in history and mass communications. Shortly thereafter, he earned a master's degree in public history from the State University of New York at Albany.

Mr. Kolakowski began his career as a policy and transportation coordinator for the Civil War Preservation Trust. He was subsequently recruited as the executive director of the Perryville Enhancement Project and the chief curator of the National Museum of the Army Reserve. An expert in military history, museum operations, transformation and strategic planning, he served as the director of the General George Patton Museum and Center of Leadership from 2009 to 2013 and the director of the MacArthur Memorial from 2013 to 2019.

Since 2020, Mr. Kolakowski has found success as the director of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum. In this role, he is responsible for setting strategic direction for the museum, managing and coaching the staff and allocating resources. A respected voice in his field, he has written numerous publications. He is the author of "The Virginia Campaigns," "Last Stand on Bataan: The Defense of the Philippines," "The Stones River & Tullahoma Campaigns: This Army Does Not Retreat" and "Nations in the Balance," which will be published in 2022. He is a lifetime member of the United States Naval Institute and has been distinguished as an honorary colonel of the 116th Infantry Regiment of Virginia National Guard.
