NEW YORK, NY and BEAVER DAM, WI, February 23, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Franz Posset, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Posset earned a degree in Catholic theology, with fluency in Latin, Greek and Hebrew from the University of Tübingen. Following this accomplishment, he attained a Doctor of Philosophy in Religious Studies from Marquette University. Dr. Posset's dissertation, "Luther's Catholic Christology according to his Johannine Lectures of 1527," was published by Northwestern Publishing House, a Lutheran church press, in 1988.

Living in rural Wisconsin, Dr. Posset became an independent scholar and researcher, authoring numerous books and articles. His research focuses on Martin Luther, the Reformation and the Renaissance, including Jewish and Catholic relations. His works have been published internationally, including in Korea: "From the Corrupter of the Faith to the Father in the Faith: 100 Years of Catholic Luther Research," which was published in 2000 and "Unser Martin: Martin Luther aus der Sicht katholischer Sympathisanten" published in German in 2015. Dr. Posset's other works have been published throughout Europe and in Australia.

Dr. Posset has been invited to speak at numerous international conferences over the years, including in Germany, Croatia, Sweden, Australia, Poland, Austria and Italy. He is a member of the American Catholic Historical Association and the International Luther Society. He was recognized for his work on multiple occasions with prestigious awards, including the Natalie Zemon Davis Prize in Canada in 2006 for his article, "Polyglot Humanism in Germany circa 1520 as Luther's Milieu and Matrix." He was honored with the Davidias Prize from the Croatian Writers Association in 2013 for his book "Marcus Marulus and the Biblia Latina of 1489: An Approach to his Scripture Hermeneutics." In 2015, he received the German Franz Delitzsch Förder-Preis for his article "In Search of an Explanation for the Suffering of the Jews: Johann Reuchlin's Open Letter of 1505." In 2016, Dr. Posset was awarded the Harry C. Koenig Prize for Catholic Biography by the American Catholic Historical Association for his book Johann Reuchlin, the leading Catholic Philo-semite in the 16th century.

Having come of age in a Lutheran village in Germany after World War II, Dr. Posset became interested in the historical interactions between Catholics and Lutherans and Catholics and Jews throughout history. As a Catholic himself, he delved into the issues that were a part of the Second Vatican Council in the 1960s, working towards the rapprochement between the Christian denominations and the relations of the Church to the Jews. After immigrating to the United States in 1982, he continued his commitment to these fields, teaching adult and religious education for students in high school and college. Looking toward the future, Dr. Posset hopes to assemble his works as a collection of reprints with Wipf and Stock, with the first six volumes currently published: vol. 1 The Two-Fold Knowledge; vol. 2 Pater Bernhardus: Martin Luther and Bernard of Clairvaux; vol. 3 Luther's Catholic Christology; vol. 4 Respect for the Jews; vol. 5 Catholic Advocate of the Evangelical Truth; vol. 6 Renaissance Monks.
