Dr. Khan earned a Doctor of Medicine from Rangpur University of Science and Technology in Bangladesh and then underwent a residency in internal medicine at Rangpur Medical College. After immigrating to the United States in 1987, she undertook a residency in the same field at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in 1994. A board-certified physician in internal medicine, she has worked as a physician for her private practice since 1995.

In her present role, Dr. Khan sees patients to answer any of their questions or issues, and manages their medications. Up to twice per week, she practices obesity medicine. She also attends regular conferences in her fields of internal medicine and obesity medicine. As part of her dedication to her field, she is affiliated with the Obesity Medicine Association, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the Bangladesh Medical Association and the Islamic Medical Association of North America.

A caring physician who works hard to help her patients and her community, Dr. Khan comes from a family of physicians. Even her children are in the medical field, with her son being a practicing doctor and her daughter currently pursuing medical school. Dr. Khan plans to turn over her own practice to a caring and responsible successor before she retires.
