CORAL GABLES, FL, February 28, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gregory Schneider has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Having practiced medicine for more than two decades, Dr. Schneider has garnered a laudable reputation as a family physician and educator. An expert in the socioeconomic and cultural factors associated with health, he also excels as a teacher of clinical medicine. Relocating to Miami from Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 2016, he joined the University of Miami (UM) Student Health Center as a staff physician. In 2017, a teaching opportunity arose, and he joined the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) at Florida International University as an associate professor. Splitting his time between working at a community health center, where he treats uninsured patients, he also conducts home visits throughout the county in underserved neighborhoods. Additionally, Dr. Schneider teaches clinical skills, ethics and courses in social determinants of health and medical ethics to medical students on campus at HWCOM.

In Santa Fe, Dr. Schneider served as the Student Health and Wellness of the Student Health Office at Saint John's College during 2015 and as a professor between 2005 and 2015. During his time at St. John's, he taught undergraduate liberal arts, earning tenure in 2012, along with practicing in the student health center. From 1998 to 2005, he served as an assistant professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center for six years, where he taught medical ethics, literature and medicine, and clinical family medicine to both medical students and residents, while providing medical care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Having long committed his career to teaching, academic medicine, and community health, Dr. Schneider aspires to continue making a difference in the lives of others. He also hopes to set an example for his students to excel in their respective fields. Hoping to further advance in his career by acquiring a higher position in the near future, Dr. Schneider also aims to exert a positive impact on medical education and its current approach to health and health care in the U.S.

Co-editing his first book in 2021, Dr. Schneider collaborated on Value-Added Roles for Medical Students with Jed D. Gonzalo and Maya M. Hammoud, as part of a series of books from the American Medical Association published by Elsevier. Written for medical professionals, the book provides real-life clinical experiences and expert advice to medical educators. Aside from his medical writing contributions, Dr. Schneider enjoys creative writing. He has written several screenplays and hopes to publish a novel in the near future.

Civically engaged, Dr. Schneider co-founded and serves as the president of Project Treehouse, which he established alongside his wife. The organization raises funds for service-learning opportunities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Project Treehouse also participated in several fundraising events to support underprivileged residents of Miami-Dade County by delivering food and other necessary items to their doorsteps.

Dr. Schneider received a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy at the University of Dallas in 1990, followed by a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Missouri Columbia School of Medicine in 1995. He subsequently completed his residency with University of Missouri Health Care and became a board-certified family physician. Additional educational pursuits to Dr. Schneider's credit include a Master of Liberal Arts at Southern Methodist University in 2005.

Supporting his professional endeavors, Dr. Schneider is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Public Health Association, as well as Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), Phi Beta Kappa and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. In light of his achievements, he was named as the Educator of the Year by the Florida Academy of Family Physicians in 2020. That same year, Dr. Schneider was honored with the Robert H. Moser Essay Award by AOA.
