Dr. Gilete-Sosa completed coursework in biology at the Metropolitan University in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1996 before obtaining a Doctor of Medicine from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in 2000. A certified correctional health professional, he also holds medical licenses in Florida and Puerto Rico. Dr. Gilete-Sosa began his career working for the Emergency Department as a general physician since 2002 at San Pablo Hospital-Bayamon. At the same time, he worked as a palliative care physician at Saint Lucas Hospital Services, Inc. in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In 2005, Dr. Gilete-Sosa joined the Florida Department of Corrections as staff physician and two years later in 2007, he was appointed as Medical Director for the Florida Department of Health of Bradford and Union Counties. In 2012 Dr. Gilete-Sosa relocated to Central Florida where he was appointed Medical Director at the Brevard County Jail Complex under Armor Correctional Health Services, Inc. 2022 marks his tenth anniversary working for the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, now under Corizon Health, Inc. caring for the underserved in corrections.
In recognition of his dedication, he was honored with an Outstanding Performance Recognition Award as Health Promoter at Underprivileged Communities by the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in 1997. As part of his dedication to his field, Dr. Gilete-Sosa is a member of the Correctional Healthcare Practitioners and the American Academy of HIV Specialists.
A self-professed hard worker, Dr. Gilete-Sosa decided to become a physician to care for the underprivileged members of his community. In the coming years, he plans to maintain and improve his consistent level of care as an expert in correctional medicine, focusing on serving underprivileged patients.
