Marquis Who's Who Recognizes Chris Goldberg for Expertise in Journalism, Education and Entrepreneurship

Dr. Goldberg has found much success by combining his passion for writing, teaching and coaching

BLUE BELL, PA, March 04, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Chris Goldberg, Ed.D. has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Goldberg is an experienced educator, journalist, entrepreneur and author who has combined years of experience, training and leadership in multiple fields to accomplish many goals that have made a difference in the classroom, the playing fields and the community. His career as a journalist began in 1980 and helped guide him to choose education and to focus on areas of the highest need in 1992 when he continued his studies for certification in Special Education and Instructional Technology. Subsequently, he was hired to teach computer science, STEM and technology to students in Grades K-to-8 in the Coatesville School District and then the Interboro School District in the Philadelphia suburbs. In his 27-year tenure, he was recognized with many significant honors – including nomination as STEM Teacher of the Year and for writing educational grants that brought hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding – and worked tirelessly with his students as a middle school coach, STEM and newspaper club mentor and as an advocate for environmental issues. Although he recently retired from his full-time teaching position in 2021, Dr. Goldberg continues to make an impact as an adjunct professor at Temple University in Philadelphia while launching a career as a children's book author on critical social issues.

Celebrated for his success and contributions in 2019, Dr. Goldberg was honored among the STEM All-Pro Teachers of the Year by Axalta and the Philadelphia Eagles, who named him and nine others in the Tri-State area with a banquet and recognition at an Eagles game. His school was awarded $5,000 in funds for STEM education. Over his career, Dr. Goldberg wrote or co-wrote 11 successful grants for more than $300,000 in funds for his schools.

Aside from his lengthy career in education, Dr. Goldberg is renowned for his contributions as the founder, chief executive officer and editor for Lacrosse Media LLC, which operates two successful websites, including Phillylacrosse.com. This website, established in 2008, serves as a leading online source for regional sports coverage for high school, college, professional and youth lacrosse throughout the Philadelphia area. Dr. Goldberg also oversees TopLaxRecruits.com, the nation's only national website specific to boys' and girls' lacrosse.

Dr. Goldberg was named US Lacrosse Man of the Year in 2011 for the Eastern Pennsylvania region based on his contributions to the lacrosse community. He also was honored by the Eastern PA Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2019 with the Founder's Award for longtime service to the sport. His websites have posted approximately 45,000 articles since the company's inception. Not only did the Phillylacrosse.com website generate more interest for the sport throughout the Philadelphia area, but it helped to better recognize the players, the coaches and leaders within the community who have supported various non-profit lacrosse foundations and charities.

Before launching Phillylacrosse.com, Dr. Goldberg worked on a part-time basis for 13 years at The Philadelphia Inquirer, one of the nation's top newspapers. He covered scholastic and collegiate sports and wrote news features. In his first 9 years as a full-time journalist, he won the PA State Press Award for sports feature writing three straight years in the mid-sized circulation division and transitioned from a sportswriter to an investigative reporter in 1990. In that role, he helped uncover and write about information that led to the arrest of a multi-state ring charged with animal cruelty.

Dr. Goldberg is currently working to complete his first children's book meant to inspire young students in order to promote the field of STEM education and address the under-representation of women and people of color in the field. Developing a passion for writing since the third grade, he was often inspired by his parents as his father was successful in both business and community athletics while his mother was a local newspaper reporter and highly recognized fundraiser at a major suburban hospital.

While he was teaching, Dr. Goldberg launched a new middle school girls' lacrosse program in the inner-city of Coatesville and then coached middle school girls' lacrosse for 13 years at Interboro. He also served as a girls' soccer coach in the middle school program for four years and helped the district develop a middle school boys' program. Meanwhile, Dr. Goldberg created a unique program with West Chester University where student teachers received extensive training in his inclusive technology class. In all, he trained 41 student teachers as their co-operating teacher and helped over 100 pre-service students complete student teaching with valuable skills in technology integration. Late in his career at Interboro he served as a technology and STEM coach where he helped train over 250 teachers and was chosen to present on STEM education at two major educational conferences.

Dr. Goldberg initially obtained a Bachelor of Science in English and journalism at the University of Delaware in 1983. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he gained experience on the school newspaper as a sports reporter for both the men's and women's lacrosse teams. Years later, Dr. Goldberg returned to academia, earning a Master of Art in Special Education at West Chester University in 1996 and a Doctor of Education in Special Education at Arcadia University in 2005. Dr. Goldberg holds teaching certifications in special education, business education and technology and computers in addition to his certification as an instructional technology specialist.
