Kathy O'Keefe Celebrated for Dedication to Field of Substance Abuse Recovery

Ms. O'Keefe lends years of expertise to her work with Winning the Fight

As the founder and executive director, she oversees the community-based organization and provides drug education, support, and necessary resources to youth and families.

FLOWER MOUND, TX, March 07, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kathy O'Keefe has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After working in sales and marketing for three and a half decades, Ms. O'Keefe established Winning the Fight in 2010. As the founder and executive director, she oversees the community-based organization and provides drug education, support, and necessary resources to youth and families that suffer from the disease of addiction. An expert in her field, she has also found success as an architect, earning a bachelor's degree in interior architecture from the Harrington College of Design in 1986.

Alongside her work, Ms. O'Keefe dedicates herself to Cross Timbers Rotary. Throughout her years of professional expertise, she has produced a number of documentaries, including "Just Once," which shows the addiction and recovery stories of four parents and four young people, and "Not Me," which followed eight families and their struggles with addiction. In light of her considerable achievements, she was named a Champion for Kids through the Louisville Independent School District in 2014 and 2015.

Over the years, Ms. O'Keefe has also won an Outstanding Citizen Award from the Town of Flower Mound, was one of eight invited to testify before the congressional committee on opioid abuse and one of only 200 people invited by the White House to participate in the opioid summit. She further earned a Humility Award from Sierra Tucson, and has been interviewed and featured in various media outlets, including Fox News, Dallas Morning News, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Denton Record Chronicle and WBAP.

Although her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. O'Keefe is most proud of being invited to Washington, D.C., on two occasions to speak on drug addiction problems. It gives her the greatest joy to be able to transition from making physical locations beautiful, as she is an architect by trade, to making families beautiful through her work in drug addiction rehabilitation advocacy. In the coming years, Ms. O'Keefe plans to roll out their newest education-based program called "Better Safe Than Sorry," which aims to install a biometric safe for people's medications in every single home in the United States. She has the long-term goal of educating others that drug addiction is a disease and advocating that it is better dealt with through prevention.
