Maria Ines Ardid, MD, Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Cardiology

Dr. Ardid has found success as an interventional cardiology specialist for more than 15 years



A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), Maria Ines Ardid is the author of more than 100 publications.

    MIAMI, FL, March 09, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Maria Ines Ardid, MD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. For more than 17 years, Dr. Ardid has prospered as a cardiovascular research specialist at the Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, which is part of Baptist Health South Florida. In her role, she focuses on coordinating medical trials for cardiovascular treatments and implementing vital protocols during the research process. Dr. Ardid also frequently harnesses her expertise in interventional cardiology to treat a plethora of patients for coronary artery disease and other cardiovascular conditions.

A native of Argentina, Dr. Ardid earned a Doctor of Medicine at the University of La Plata in 1975. She completed a residency in cardiology at Hospital Universitario lnterzonal General de Agudos General San Martin in La Plata. Five years later, she became one of the first doctors in Latin American history to successfully perform a coronary angioplasty at Institutos Medicos Antartida Hospital in Buenos Aires City. Dr. Ardid additionally founded the Argentine College of Interventional Cardiology in 1985, as well as the Latin American Society of Interventional Cardiology in 1995. She served as Chief of the Interventional Cardiology Department at Hospital Interzonal de Agudos Eva Peron San Martin, Buenos Aires Province in 1991, and she was the first women director. Dr. Ardid is a Fellow of the Society for Cardiac Angiography & Interventions, (SCA&I) and Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the author of more than 100 publications.

Alongside her responsibilities as a researcher and cardiologist, Dr. Ardid maintains active affiliation with the American College of Cardiology and the American Interventional Cardiology Society. In the coming years, she hopes to inspire many young women to pursue careers in medicine while remaining highly involved in the development of new treatments for structural heart diseases. Thanks to her vast contributions to the field of cardiology, Dr. Ardid was selected for the American College of Cardiology to participate in the CardioSurve Committee in 2020-2021 to represent the voice of the cardiologists. She was recognized with the Echocardiography Award "Prof. A. Orias" First Prize in 2002.

Dr. Ardid graduated from National University of La Plata and completed a residency at the School of Medicine, La Plata, Buenos Aires. She received her M.D.M. Degree in 1975.
