    GEORGETOWN, TX, March 12, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- William D. Clark, MD, DDS, FACS, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Drawing on over five decades of expertise, Dr. Clark has led an extensive career in the medical field. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, he pursued his education at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he completed pre-professional coursework in 1961, and earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas Dental Branch, Houston in 1965. He continued his academic efforts at the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine, obtaining a Doctor of Medicine in 1970, and completed his internship at Brooke Army Hospital in 1971. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington D. C. in 1975. As a commitment to his field, Dr. Clark is board certified in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery via the American Board of Otolaryngology, and was elected a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology, among others. In fact, he was a founder of the American Academy of Pediatric Otolaryngology an event which was largely responsible for recognition of Pediatric Otolaryngology as a new Sub-specialty.

Dr. Clark lends more than five decades of industry experience to his extensive military, academic and medical background. He began his career as a general dental officer, and later as a medical officer in the United States Army, and United States Air Force, before retiring in the grade of Colonel. Since retiring from the military, he has contributed to various medical and academic institutions, including the Children's Hospital of San Antonio, Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi and Dell Children's Hospital in Austin. He was a Professor of Otolaryngology and Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center from 2006 until 2016 and is an Adjunct Professor at that institution today. Additionally, he has held full-time academic appointments at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and the University of Florida School of Medicine.

In his career related endeavors, Dr. Clark has authored frequently quoted works such as "Preventing Dentofacial Abnormalities with the Proper Correction of Pediatric Upper Airway Obstruction", and "Late-onset Laryngomalacia: A Cause of Pediatric Obstructive Sleep Apnea", among numerous others. Noted for his achievements in the field, he has received several awards, including the Distinguished Service Award from the Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Honor Award from the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. His military awards include the Legion of Merit and three Meritorious Service Medals. Among his professional accomplishments, he is most proud to have served as the Associate Dean of the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium, one of the nation's two joint military medical centers. He attributes much of his success to his passion for helping people and his support from faith and family, as well as to his active participation in national and international medical education programs. Looking toward the future, Dr. Clark aspires to continue his professional and academic contributions in his specialty by providing superlative care to his patients and mentoring the next generation of physicians.
